Fractal Design Define R4 Cases, Black Pearl (FD-CA-DEF-R4-BL) - on Amazon.com
First Fractal Design Case for me...Amazing Quality
I've owned many computer cases over the years, and I've tended to stick with the older manufacturers that have always been making cases like Cooler Master, Thermaltake, and Antec. I watched some youtube reviews and read up on some tech sites about this one from Fractal Design as I was looking for something sleek and slightly understated, that was also very sophisticated as well as silent. Plethora of adjectives aside, Fractal Design has really delivered on the Define R4. I purchased this case from another site that has something to do with not old offspring of chickens, for a very reasonable price of $79.99 w/Free Shipping. Granted after I built my computer I can say that I'd gladly pay $109.99 or whatever the retail cost is given the build quality and aesthetics.
Pros:
+ Build Quality. This is a steel chassis with sound dampening materials covering both side panels and as such is quite heavy. I never understood the allure of the ultra lightweight aluminum chassis...

Customer review : A stellar case for almost any purpose
This is a large, heavy, well-built, attractive enclosure that's suited to almost every kind of build. It has space for something like seven fans. The interior room is on the high side of the mid-ATX standard with plenty of clearance for large tower heatsinks and multiple graphics cards. There are eight 3.5" hard disk slots. All of this is ideal for a power build, but also superlative for silent PCs. The case panels are very heavy and dampened with a cloth material. Most of the fan ports can be sealed if unused, and the enclosure is so solid that spinning 3.5" disks cause very little resonance.
The latter point is my interest. I'm all about silent computing. My go-to cases have been Antec's Solo and Sonata line. The former is similarly well-built, but cramped and far more difficult to build inside than this Fractal. The Solo II doesn't appear much of an improvement, so this is my new preferred enclosure.
