Philips 26PFL4507 26-Inch 60Hz LED TV (Black) - My Personal Recommendation

doesnt play xvid or divx
only put it up this morning. its ok. picture clear and in my bedroom -not big- sound is good. but it will not play avi videos i have on usb stick that were encoded with xvid. format not accepted. it says will play motion jpg ..who the hell uses that . anyway i have a video player hook up to it and i put my usb stick in there and then watch it on tv. so for around $200 hopefully this bedroom tv will last a while

i am revising earlier 3 star review because with the addition of a $38 piece of equipment this tv is now awesome.
the equipment is this

with the micca speck i no longer have to convert my downloaded avi to xvid or change ac3 audio codec to pcm or mp3 or convert mkv to avi. the micca speck plays all of them also...

Customer review : Viewing angle problems from bottom and sides
I compared this TV up against two other similar competitors: The LG 26LS3500 and the Samsung UN26EH4000. They're all 26" LCD TVs, and they're all within about $60 in price. I had a chance to see all three TVs side by side, and there's one striking difference: The viewing angles. All 3 TVs have a very good and similar looking picture straight on, but the Philips looks awful when you get past about 45
